Birthday Cupcakes
Instead of a traditional birthday cake for your child’s birthday, why not consider baking a marvellous set of birthday cupcakes to enjoy the celebration with. They come with many benefits and children love them just as much as traditional cake.
Easy Peasy
The advantage of birthday cup cakes is that they are easy to make and decorate compared to a traditional full cake. You simple create the mix and separate it into how many cupcakes you desire. Once mixed, place in the oven on a special baking tray until they are fully cooked and golden brown. As they are small, they are simple to decorate too. There is not that much cake real estate so you can’t get caught up in details. You should decorate them with simple shapes and bright colours. If you want detail, you can use a thin icing spout to write a birthday message on each cake.
No cutting required
Another great thing about having birthday cupcakes is that when it comes time cake cutting time, there is no need, the cake can easily be divided up between the party guests and eaten easily. You can display them on cupcake racks, specifically designed for the display of cupcakes that can add an elegant touch to your birthday cake displays. They are also child friendly being easier to eat with their paper casing, allowing hands to stay clean(ish). The cases again lend themselves to further personalisation if you desire to have a birthday message on the side of the case.
Not all great
The downside of birthday cupcakes is that you miss the traditional blowing out of the candles. It’s not really feasible to have a birthday candle on each cupcake and the paper cases and the flame from the candle wouldn’t be the best mix either. If you like to have birthday candles on your birthday cake, it’s perhaps better to go for a more traditional design, particularly if it’s a “milestone” birthday such as a 21st or a 50th.
Overall birthday cupcakes can make an excellent choice for most birthday occasions but if it’s a milestone birthday, you may want to opt for a more traditional cake on which you can put candles to celebrate the years of life of the recipient.
